Brian Karp
Trumpet

Brian is a native of North Little Rock, AR.  He held his first trumpet when he was twelve years old and has been in love ever since.  Brian attended Louisiana Tech University and earned a Mechanical Engineering degree while participating in almost every musical group the university offered.  His favorite groups were Marching Band, Hoop Troop (pep band), and Jazz Ensemble because these groups allowed the most opportunity for Brian to develop and display his range and endurance.  During Brian's tenure as lead trumpet, the Tech Jazz Ensemble was featured at three New Orleans Jazz Festivals.

Brian enjoys playing all styles of music.  He has played for musicals, pageants, and festivals of all kinds.  Highlights include a summer in the “Rockville High” show at Fiesta Texas – San Antonio, the Hernando Symphony in Central Florida, a latin jazz group named Tabu based in Tampa, and the New Port Richie Dinner Theater.  Brian currently plays with two Big Bands in Northwest AR in addition to Naturally Brass.

Brian's favorite trumpet giants include Doc Severinsen, Maynard Ferguson, Bill Chase, and Arturo Sandoval.  He is a self-taught student of the John Lynch trumpet method and studied with the late Robert Cheatham while at LA Tech.

Brian played only one mouthpiece for the last 20 years but is now on a quest for new hardware.  Consequently, he has accumulated a pile of “extra” mouthpieces that are in need of a good home.  Call if you'd like to try one.  Remember…  a mouthpiece is terrible thing to waste.
