Bob Shaw began playing trombone in the 6th grade, after his father brought home the trombone he had played in school. He has never quite recovered from the experience and has played ever since, except for a short stint doubling as a baritone player in high school. Bob plays in both of Jack Mitchell’s big bands. Bob and his wife Deborah, a middle school band director and accomplished clarinet player, also play in Jubilation Jazz, a gospel big band out of Little Rock, AR. They have two children, Michael, 23, and Matthew, 26, as well as a daughter-in-law, Mia. He works for the Wal-Mart Home Office as a computer guru.
